Reporter

Role Description This full-time Reporter role at Corporación Troquel is an on-site position based in Nairobi. The Reporter will research and develop news stories, conduct interviews, verify information, and write clear, accurate, and timely news articles. Daily responsibilities include attending events and press briefings, identifying story angles, collaborating with editors and multimedia teams, and meeting strict deadlines for publication. The Reporter will create content for multiple platforms, ensuring alignment with editorial standards and organizational guidelines. The role also involves monitoring local and regional developments, maintaining professional contacts, and upholding ethical journalism practices.
Qualifications
• Ability to conduct thorough Reporting and News Writing, producing accurate, engaging, and timely stories.
• Strong Writing and Communication skills, including clear storytelling and the capacity to interview diverse sources.
• Experience with Multimedia content production, such as basic photo, audio, or video gathering and packaging.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English; proficiency in local languages is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, fact-checking skills, and adherence to journalistic ethics and integrity.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines on-site in Nairobi.
• Comfort collaborating with editors and cross-functional teams, as well as working independently in the field.
• Diploma or degree in Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field; relevant newsroom experience is preferred.
