Job Description
This full-time, on-site Vice President role is based in Nairobi County, Kenya. The Vice President will oversee the strategic and operational leadership of KEFRIβs programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and sustainable forestry initiatives. Responsibilities include spearheading policy development, managing research projects, leading cross-disciplinary teams, and fostering collaborations with stakeholders. The Vice President will also represent KEFRI in national and international forums, promote best practices in forestry research and conservation, and engage in activities that facilitate the development and implementation of innovative strategies.
Qualifications
β’ Strategic leadership, organizational management, and decision-making skills
β’ Experience in research oversight, policy development, and project management
β’ Knowledge of sustainable forestry, environmental conservation, and resource management
β’ Strong partnership-building skills with governmental, non-governmental, and international organizations
β’ Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
β’ Advanced degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field; a Ph.D. is a significant advantage
β’ Proven record of executive-level leadership in research institutions or similar organizations
β’ Commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and community development
