Maua Customer Development Representative β Mars Snacking Nairobi, Kenya
As a Maua Customer Development Representative at Mars, you will play a crucial role in our Maua program, which aims to empower underprivileged youth in Kenya. Your responsibility will be to create livelihood opportunities by managing our last-mile distribution into slums and remote rural areas. This involves recruiting and training a network of micro-entrepreneurs, coordinating program activities, and ensuring the development of Social, Human, and Shared Financial Capitals within a diverse ecosystem.
What are we looking for?
β’ A university degree, preferably in Entrepreneurship, Sustainability, or Business Management.
β’ A minimum of 5 yearsβ experience with a proven track record in managing livelihood improvement projects within the private sector or NGOs.
β’ You must be passionate about driving economic growth for underserved populations and comfortable working in slums and other remote areas of the country.
β’ Knowledge and experience in distribution, community outreach programs, and people management.
β’ Excellent oral and written communication skills, with working knowledge of Kiswahili being essential.
β’ Someone who is comfortable working within an agile, startup-like business context.
What would be your key responsibilities?
β’ Recruit, train, and retain a network of micro-entrepreneurs (Uplifters, Hawkers, and Stockpoints) in hard-to-reach communities.
β’ Identify and develop new areas for geographical expansion, including creating rollout plans and routes.
β’ Deliver on sales volume targets and collaborate with internal teams to ensure stock availability and execute operational plans.
β’ Conduct training and development for entrepreneurs through the MAUA Academy, mentorship, and other capacity-building programs.
β’ Manage local operations, including budgeting, reporting on performance metrics, and representing the Maua Business in local forums and stakeholder meetings.
β’ Collect and encode data to support the measurement and evaluation of the Maua program, including tracking non-financial performance metrics.
