Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Culinary Director based in Nairobi County, Kenya.
The Culinary
Director will oversee kitchen and all food and beverage service operations, including menu development, sourcing ingredients, and implementing food preparation techniques to maintain exceptional culinary standards.
Responsibilities include leading the food and beverage teams, ensuring cost control, maintaining quality and safety standards, and providing consistent, top-tier guest dining experiences. Additionally, the Culinary Director will train and mentor all food and beverage team to achieve excellence while fostering an innovative culinary environment.
Qualifications
• Strong skills in Cooking, Culinary Arts, and Food & Beverage management
• Experience in Menu Development and creating quality dining experiences
• Knowledge of Purchasing and sourcing of fresh, high-quality ingredients
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire kitchen staff
• Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills
• Proficient in managing budgets and maintaining cost controls
• Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related field (preferred) or equivalent industry experience
• Previous experience in a luxury hospitality environment is an advantage
• Passion for culinary innovation and creating memorable dining experiences
