Our international client in Kenya in the agro chemicals solutions industry seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Product Development Manager to lead the technical and innovation agenda across their agrochemical distribution network in East and West Africa. The successful candidate will serve as the key technical authority ensuring that all products meet required specifications and regulatory standards, while also driving product innovation and market relevance through research and consumer insights. This role sits at the intersection of agronomy, product management, and commercial strategy, requiring agility, technical depth, and strong stakeholder management skills. This role can be based in Kenya or Nigeria and will require travel throughout western and eastern Africa.

Responsibilities
Product Quality & Technical Oversight
• Serve as the technical lead ensuring that all agrochemical products meet the agreed specifications and performance standards.
• Liaise closely with suppliers, procurement, and quality assurance teams to validate and maintain product consistency and compliance.
• Oversee field evaluations, trials, and comparative performance studies to support product validation and market suitability.
• Build and be the primary custodian of the product specification repository.
Regulatory & Compliance Management
• Monitor and interpret regulatory and legislative changes affecting agrochemical registration, labelling, and usage across target countries.
• Keep internal stakeholders and partners informed of relevant compliance updates and guide adjustments to product portfolios accordingly.
• Maintain close relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations to anticipate and navigate policy shifts.
Innovation & Market Intelligence
• Lead the research and development of new product ideas and formulations in line with evolving farmer needs, sustainability trends, and market dynamics.
• Continuously monitor consumer and farmer behavior trends to identify opportunities for product diversification and differentiation.
• Collaborate with marketing, sales, and supply chain teams to bring new innovations from concept to market launch.
Stakeholder & Supplier Engagement
• Act as the technical point of contact for suppliers, ensuring transparent communication on product performance, compliance, and quality control.
• Participate in strategic supplier meetings, exhibitions, and trade events to represent the company’s technical interests and market insights.
• Work closely with supply chain and commercial teams to ensure product availability aligns with market needs and regulatory timelines.
Agility & Operational Excellence
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced, geographically diverse network environment.
• Rapidly adapt to supply, demand, and regulatory shifts while maintaining alignment with business objectives.
• Support internal teams with technical training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in agrochemical product development, formulation, or technical product management.
• Strong understanding of agrochemical regulations, market dynamics, and distribution networks in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Demonstrated ability to bridge technical and commercial perspectives within a complex value chain.
• Proven experience in stakeholder management and supplier engagement.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively across East and West Africa.
