Job Description

As the global champion for gender equality, UN Women works closely with governments, civil society organizations, youth networks, and international partners to advance women's rights and leadership. In 2025, marking the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (Beijing+30), UN Women is strengthening partnerships with young people, adolescent girls, and youth-led organizations to accelerate progress on gender equality and women's empowerment worldwide.

The Programme Analyst will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and will support UN Women’s Civil Society Division in advancing youth engagement, strengthening partnerships with youth- and girl-led organizations, supporting knowledge generation, and promoting meaningful participation of young people in global and intergovernmental processes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Youth Engagement & Programme Support
β€’ Support outreach and engagement with youth and adolescent constituencies.
β€’ Contribute to the implementation of youth-focused programmes and initiatives.
β€’ Support the development of knowledge products related to youth participation and gender equality.
β€’ Assist in strengthening the meaningful participation of young people in multi-stakeholder and intergovernmental processes.

2. Civil Society & Partnership Development
β€’ Support engagement with youth-led and girl-led organizations and civil society partners.
β€’ Organize outreach meetings, consultations, and brainstorming sessions with youth constituencies.
β€’ Strengthen collaboration and networking among youth organizations to enhance communication and collective action.
β€’ Promote partnerships that advance gender equality and women's empowerment.

3. Research, Knowledge Management & Communications
β€’ Prepare briefing notes, background papers, and analytical materials to support the Civil Society Division.
β€’ Develop knowledge products and communication materials highlighting youth engagement and programme achievements.
β€’ Support production of newsletters, meeting reports, and event outcome documents.
β€’ Document lessons learned and good practices to strengthen institutional knowledge.

4. Safeguarding & Programme Coordination
β€’ Support the implementation of safeguarding plans for youth and adolescent programmes.
β€’ Assist in coordinating programme activities with internal teams and external partners.
β€’ Contribute to monitoring programme progress and documenting key outcomes.
β€’ Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.

5. Volunteerism & Knowledge Sharing
β€’ Promote the values and principles of volunteerism through active participation in UNV activities.
β€’ Contribute articles, stories, and other communication products highlighting volunteer experiences.
β€’ Support knowledge-sharing initiatives and collaboration with colleagues and partners.

Profile Required

Experience

Minimum 3 years relevant professional experience, including:
β€’ Research and programme support
β€’ Civil society engagement, particularly with young people
β€’ Youth participation and partnership development
β€’ Gender equality and women's empowerment programming
β€’ Experience working with youth- and girl-led organizations
β€’ Knowledge of child protection and the Convention on the Rights of the Child is an asset
β€’ Experience working or interning within the United Nations system is an advantage
β€’ Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and international environment

Education

Master's degree in social sciences, international relations, communications, women's studies, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Languages
β€’ Fluent English
β€’ Working knowledge of French is an asset
