Country Managing Director, Kenya

Workforce Group
Nairobi, KE Full-time Posted 1 week ago

Job Description

This is a country build-and-scale mandate for a commercially strong leader with the depth to grow a market, lead a business, and deliver sustained performance.

Workforce Group is seeking a
Country Managing Director
to lead its Kenya business from Nairobi, with full ownership across P&L, revenue growth, client acquisition, service delivery, compliance, partnerships, people leadership, and market positioning.

The role will drive Workforce Group’s East Africa growth agenda by translating its multi-service workforce solutions portfolio into a profitable, credible, and scalable platform across the region.

What Success Looks Like

Success will mean building a profitable and well-governed Kenya business, maintaining a strong qualified pipeline, deepening senior client relationships, delivering excellent service outcomes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and positioning Workforce as a leading HR and workforce solutions provider in East Africa.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Kenya business plan, P&L, revenue growth, margin performance, cost discipline, profitability, and reporting cadence.

• Drive client acquisition and senior stakeholder engagement across multinationals, NGOs/development agencies, and large African enterprises.

• Lead commercial proposals, pitch preparation, negotiations, pipeline reviews, win/loss analysis, and conversion reporting.

• Oversee service delivery, client onboarding, QBRs, SLA performance, issue resolution, NPS tracking, payroll operations, statutory filings, vendors, and local infrastructure.

• Ensure full compliance with Kenyan employment law, tax obligations, data protection requirements, and statutory regulations.

• Build strategic partnerships with HR bodies, chambers of commerce, consulting firms, legal firms, accounting firms, development agencies, and wider ecosystem partners.

• Elevate Workforce Kenya’s market presence through conferences, business forums, executive roundtables, webinars, client education, and thought leadership.

• Build and lead a high-performing Kenya team anchored on ownership, transparency, cultural alignment, governance, and execution discipline.

• Provide market intelligence and feasibility input for East African expansion opportunities across Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ethiopia.

Requirements

• 10–15 years’ progressive experience in professional services, HR consulting, recruitment, or workforce solutions.

• 3–5 years in P&L leadership or general management.

• Proven experience building or scaling a professional services business, ideally in Kenya or East Africa.

• Strong track record selling and delivering complex, multi-service solutions.

• Deep knowledge of Kenya’s business environment, employment law, regulatory landscape, HR associations, and Nairobi’s development ecosystem.

• Experience managing an HQ–satellite office relationship with autonomy, alignment, trust, and transparent communication.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Management, or a related discipline.

• MBA, MSc, or equivalent postgraduate qualification is strongly preferred.

• Professional HR certification such as IHRM-K, SHRM, CIPD, or CIPM is an advantage.

• Experience across payroll, EOR/PEO, advisory, or outsourcing is strongly preferred.

Who Should Apply
This role is suited to a commercially mature country leader who can own business performance, build senior market relationships, convert opportunities into revenue, lead disciplined operations, and scale a business while protecting service quality, compliance, culture, and profitability.
Candidates whose experience is limited to narrow recruitment, HR administration, or business development without P&L ownership, service delivery leadership, and multi-service workforce solutions exposure may not be the strongest fit.
